Clinician Coding for Family PACT Services: New Case Studies

with Michael Policar, M.D., M.P.H.
Recorded August 20, 2008

Course Description

The Family PACT PPBI (Policies, Procedures and Billing Instructions) published in October 2007 included significant updates in the use of Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes and Education and Counseling (E&C) codes in the Program. This webcast will use a case study format to highlight the use of these office visit codes, as well as appropriate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and diagnosis coding.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe 3 criteria for the use of E/M codes compared to E&C codes.
  2. Explain when Family PACT eligibility ceases and resumes with an intervening pregnancy.
  3. Describe CPT, E/M and diagnosis coding for Implanon and Essure.
  4. Review time intervals for each level of E/M and E&C visit.
