Course Description

This session will explain the use of the World Health Organization (WHO) Medical Eligibility Criteria, an evidence-based clinical practice guideline, in contraceptive management for clients with chronic illness and medical conditions.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion, participants will be able to:

  1. List the four categories contraceptive safety in contained the WHO Medical Eligibility Criteria
  2. Describe two concerns that affect the use of hormonal contraceptives in women with diabetes
  3. List three drugs that are good alternatives for a woman with a seizure disorder who wants to use hormonal contraceptives
  4. Explain 3 steps in management when a woman using OCs is found to have a breast lump

Click the link and print a copy of the evaluation and handout. The slide presentation and slide handout is also available. The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number PCE3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California. Course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
