Course Description
This session will provide an overview of all contraceptive methods that are available through Family PACT. Methods will be discussed in terms of tiers of efficacy to include strategies that improve client method utilization and achievement of family planning goals. Emergency Contraception will also be discussed. Continuing Education is available for viewing this session.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion, participants will be able to:
- Counsel patients on the full array of contraceptive choices, including mechanisms of action, failure rates, contraindications, potential side effects and complications, and non-contraceptive benefits
- Suggest ways of increasing successful patient utilization of contraceptive methods
- Describe new approaches to older contraceptive methods

Complete the registration form. Once registered, click the playback arrow to start the session. After the recording starts playing, you can open the interactive panels. First, click on the 'View' menu. Then select 'Float All Panels.' This will allow you to see all the panels as they were used and viewed during the live webcast of the event.

This is an activity offered by the California Family Health Council, Inc., a CMA-accredited provider. Physicians attending this program can earn up to 1.5 contact hours of Category I credits toward the California Medical Association’s Certification in Continuing Medical Education and the American Medical Association’s Physician's Recognition Award. The American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American College of Nurse Midwives accept Category I CME approval.
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP 12241 for up to 1.8 contact hours.
CFHC is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contact hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Health Educators attending this program may report up to 1.5 Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) contact hours.
The California Family Health Council, Inc., provider number PCE3165, is an approved provider of continuing education for MFT and LCSW licensure requirements in California. Course meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
